Ashna Jayaraman – January 2026 Athlete of the Month
Ashna Jayaraman, 14 , of Foxboro, has been training at Elite Sports Performance & Physical Therapy in Foxboro for the past 2 years. Ashna, a freshman at the Wheeler School, is the starting guard on the varsity high school basketball team and plays AAU hoops for Mass Premier Courts. Ashna came to Elite as an avid basketball player looking to increase her strength and speed. After training at Elite, she has seen huge improvements not only in her strength in the weight room but on the court as well. Her rebounding has significantly improved, which she credits to her improved strength, speed and power. She is always hungry for more and is working hard to improve her endurance as well.
Ashna has played on many basketball teams over the years including town, school, and AAU, many of which have had very successful seasons. From making it to the championship game with her Foxboro team or winning tournaments with her AAU MPC team, she’s played a key role on many strong teams. She is most proud of the progress of her AAU team over the years, noting that the team “used to get destroyed by teams that we can now beat.” Ashna is also proud that she was able to take on a starting position for Wheeler this season and plays almost every minute!
Ashna has a strong work ethic and a positive attitude when she is in the gym. She believes that a true athlete “is willing to put in the work,
especially when nobody is watching.” She also sees these qualities in her favorite athlete, NBA star, Stephen Curry, whose play and work ethic has inspired her to work to improve her 3-point shooting. As for advice to younger athletes, she encourages them to “believe in yourself when no one else does” and to “make the best of situations.” She personally found that a piece of advice she received – “better everyday” – has helped her to improve on and off the court. Ashna has two older brothers, Rohan and Milin, that have also been an inspiration to her. She finds that she works harder to keep up with her brothers’ progress and keep improving her skills. She tells us that basketball has had a huge impact on her life and she truly loves the game.
Ashna has been training consistently at Elite for the past two years, working hard and smiling along the way. You can often find her doing box jumps (her favorite), deadlifts, agility training, core strengthening and everything else it takes to improve her game! She loves that the dedicated Elite coaching staff challenges her with evolving training programs and pushes her to constantly improve and reach new goals. She also enjoys Elite’s welcoming atmosphere and training alongside many different athletes. She encourages her teammates to join her at Elite not only because of the supportive environment, but the amazing improvements she has gained in her training!
We’re excited to announce Ashna Jayaraman as our Elite Athlete of the Month for January, 2026! With her strong work ethic, commitment to her training, and positive attitude, we know she has all the tools for great success in the future, both on and off the court. Keep getting after it and making us proud!
